Funding has been awarded to purchase 3 items of equipment for the new community-run village shop in St Germans. Two new low energy freezers and one low energy fridge have been bought.
The new equipment will reduce the running costs of the shop, as well as lessening energy consumption. The shop is an important hub for the community, and the investment will help develop community spirit as it is being run as an Industrial and Provident Society for the benefit of the community. The shop is being run by a manager, supported by a team of volunteers, and provides an excellent opportunity for local producers to increase their outlets.
Other funding has covered the refurbishment, fit out and initial running of the shop.
