Walsh Mushrooms has been awarded an RDPE grant of up to £300,000 towards total project costs of up to £1,199,000 to establish a modern, carbon friendly mushroom farm in the East of England. The project aims to refurbish a disused mushroom farm at Stanton near bury St Edmunds to instigate the production of mushrooms forth retail market. It is anticipated that this will use Phase 3 Compost which reduces the use of plastic bags from other types of compost. With this funding the project is expected to create a sustainable rural business employing 75 people.
